Football Playoff Game Report

Hey Arrow Football Fans – Your Beloved Arrows bounced back in GRAND FASHION entering the STATE PLAYOFFS with a mind blowing 56-21 route!

The Arrows EXPLOSIVE OFFENSE DID NOT DISAPPOINT! As with all season long the offense had player after player step up with big time plays. However, the night belonged to the Senior two-some of Senior Quarterback Nathan Bernhard and Senior Receiver Gabe Baith each had a very special game. Receiver Gabe Baith set a new school record for career receptions of 167 catches. In this game he had 8 catches for 163 yards and 3 Touchdowns besides a ESPN highlight kick-off run of 87 yards for a coast to coast touchdown.

Along setting career numbers Senior Nathan Bernhard scored his 50th rushing Touchdown and tied a school record with 6 touchdown passes in this game. He was 18 of 24 passing for 327 yards – setting career completions of 600 and 10,500 of career yards of offense.

Not to be outdone for setting records Senior All-Ohio Middle Linebacker Gunner Lacey notched over 400 career tackles, and Special Teams Carson O’Brien hit all 8 of his extra point kicks in Friday’s game. Other big time plays in the game came from Junior Killian O’Brien with an ESPN one-handed grab of a Touchdown pass running across the back of the end-zone. Also Junior Jeff Hickey with another interception from his Cornerback Defensive position. Spearheading the secondary front line Jordan Ferguson with many big time tackles in this game as well as all season long.

Again historically one of the most balanced Arrow teams to call Ashland Home!

We wish the Arrows GOOD LUCK as they travel down Interstate 71 to play against Columbus St. Francis DeSales and Quarterback RJ Day, son of Ohio State Buckeye Head Coach Ryan Day who finished their season 8-2.

GO ARROWS!

P.S. A special shout out to the Arrow Coaching Staff for a great mentoring season with their players. All the hours spent from June to November. Hours away from family is much appreciated by the players and Arrow Fans. Thanks again for your fine leadership and direction. No season or organization runs smoothly all the time. WE THANK YOU.

Greetings to Ashland Arrow Football Fans.

Well, our past Friday night regular season last game ended in a manner not as happy as would have liked. Our beloved ARROW BOYS just were not themselves as we have come to enjoy all season long. Our boys were out of sync from the start and never really got in sync in all phases of the game.

As all great teams do time and time again an Arrow player stepped-up with one great play after another. However, overall the great plays were not enough as Lexington played a very good game. Going into the second half the Arrow’s staged a dramatic come back charge. Senior, #21, Dakota Kruty caught a nice slant pass from Senior, #10, Nathan Bernhard and shook off two Lexington defenders and accelerated 64 yards for a TOUCHDOWN. Senior, #8, Gabe Baith had a tremendous deep end zone going away catch for a TOUCHDOWN in the second half.

Defensively there were many BIG-TIME plays: Senior Linebacker, #30, Trent Summers, 3 tackles and a big sac during the game; Senior Safety, #1, Jordan Ferguson showing 6 tackles; Sophomore Linebacker, #19, Liam Hubacher 4 tackles; Senior Middle Linebacker, #24, Gunner Lacey 6 tackles; Senior Defensive Back, #6, Braden Donatini a tackle; Senior Defensive Back #41, Tanner Wolfe a tackle. With all these great plays – it was just not quite enough to get the win.

MVD SPORTS DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE GAME GOES TO A FOURSOME OF THE ARROW DEFENSIVE LINE COMPOSED OF SENIOR #52 BUDHA MARTIN, SENIOR #56 AJAY WORKMAN, SENIOR #51 BRANDON BRIGGS, AND JUNIOR #75 GREYSON BLOUGH. This defensive front combined for 14 tackles to create a very staunch wall neutralizing the Lexington inside running game.

KUDOS to this SENIOR GROUP closing out their regular season with a 2-Year record of 19 wins and 1 defeat. Also this Arrow squad now continues their great season with entering into the STATE FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS this Friday, Ashland will host a State Playoff game at Ashland Community Stadium with State qualifying Mt. Vernon. BE THERE TO SUPPORT THE GREAT ARROW TEAM.

We want to SHOUT OUT a very special THANK YOU to MVD SPORTS for their generosity in sponsoring the ASHLAND ARROW PLAYER OF THE GAME. Very much appreciated from the players and all of us.

During this Holiday Season if you want to check out the great athletic apparel – sweatshirts, shirts, many accessories that would make a great Christmas gift – MVD SPORTS on East Main.

Also a special THANK YOU to Mr. Tony Bunt for his great Media coverage of pictures of the Arrow Players as well as these MVD Sports game write-ups.

ONWARD ARROW PLAYERS, run as fast and deep as you can go in the STATE FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS!

Hope to see you there to support the boys.
