Week 1: Arrows at Bay Village

This past Friday, August 21st the Arrow kicked off the official 2026 Football season with a trip up North to the Cleveland area to visit the Bay Village Rockets.

A beautiful night for Friday night football, our #3 Senior Jeff Hickey had a great kick-off return to start things off. During the 1st few offensive series #22 Grayson Baith had some great catches and a nice Touchdown run. Grayson showed us his explosive runs, like last year.

#2 Killian O’Brien showed some big-time catches and a corner route touchdown.

Defensively the Arrows looked very good, a swarming penetrating defensive attack and with Quarterback sacks: #57 Malakai Riley 2 sacks from his defensive tackle position; #4 JJ Beverly a number of tackles; #54 Ryder Owens a BIG Quarterback sack in the second half. Spearheading this good defensive play was #10 Junior Linebacker Bryden
Bolen with 2 sacks, 3 tackles, and 3 assists and getting a fumble recovery. Rushing total for Bay was a negative 10 yards, That’s Great Defense!

From our secondary the play was awesome, our 2 safeties #5 Landen Cooke had 5 tackles and 1 interception. #21 Junior Safety Brayten Stuart, 6 tackles and 1 key interception to stop a key Bay Village drive.

FIN’S ATHLETIC BRANDS DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE GAME GOES TO #10, LINEBACKER BRYDEN BOLEN.

FIN’S ATHLETIC BRANDS OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE GAME GOES TO #19, QUARTERBACK LIAM HUBACHER who had a stellar 1st game as the Arrow Quarterback. Liam, besides some timely passes he had some great open field runs. Game totals 13-21 passing 151 yards, 1 TD and running for 120 yards and 2 TD runs.
KUDOS to the young offensive line 1st time out.

FIN’S ATHLETIC BRANDS SPECIAL TEAM PLAYER OF THE GAME GOES TO #8, AVION WOODARD. Avion was the spearhead on downfield kick-off coverage. Numerous times he made the key tackle to limit Bay to have to drive the length of the field to get a score. Special Teams play can alone win games by creating good field
position.

An all-around GREAT start for the Arrows in all phases of the game.

Week 2: Arrows at Marion Harding

Your beloved Arrow Footballers brought home the second win of the young season last Friday, August 28th down at Marion with a 27-13 very exciting finish.

The Arrows did not bring their A-Game but were talented enough to hang tough with some clutch catches by Senior Killian O’Brien with a Touchdown and game changer fumble recovery for a run Touchdown by Senior Cornerback Jeff Hickey that broke Marion Harding's back.

Along the way a big-time circus type end zone catch falling away was Junior #1, Carter Nelson, this catch was PRIME TIME ESPN worthy! Defensively, Marion drove the field but outstanding plays by Junior #21, Brayten Stuart with 4 tackles, one interception and a quarterback sack, from his safety position was just outstanding!

All throughout the game there were many outstanding plays from many players, Landen Cooke #5, had another very good game from his safety position with many key tackles. Bodie Smith #34 and Teagan Sauder #68 also recorded a number of tackles.

FIN’S ATHLETIC BRANDS DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE GAME GOES TO #21, JUNIOR BRAYTEN STUART with his outstanding play along with #3 SENIOR JEFF HICKEY with the “PLAY OF THE GAME” recovery and Touchdown.

Next game is Friday, Labor Day weekend at Home against Clyde. Hope to see you there to support the undefeated Ashland Arrows Football Team.
